Speed it Up
Is Windows XP running sluggish? Are you going nuts, waiting for your browser to launch? New web pages loading at a snail’s pace?
If your software is responding so slowly that you can hardly get any work accomplished, and you don’t have time or resources to think about upgrading your system with more RAM, or other hardware improvements, then it may be time to turn to some of the tried and true Windows XP tune-up software applications. Hard as it may be to believe, sometimes all you need to improve performance is to “free the wasted RAM”, clean your registry and ensure that only those programs that you want to run are actively using your system resources. The following programs can improve your Windows XP Performance so dramatically– you might even punch yourself in the head for not trying them sooner!
- Advanced System Care
- Advanced System Care, a software application by IoBit, is available in a freeware and pro version. This highly recommended software suite receives much praise from its users (including myself) for its unique ability to, essentially, cover-all-the-bases in terms of general system clean-up, and tune-up. Rather than try to review the software here, for you, I recommend you just download and try the freeware version right now– if you are looking for ways to enhance the performance of an aging PC.

- FreeRAM XP Pro
Okay! Okay! We know that there’s really no such thing as “degfragmenting Random Access Memory (RAM)”! But will you calm down and try it if we call it another name?
See, here’s the thing…
Some of the software programs you run every day are actually leaving garbage behind– robbing you of your RAM!? That’s right. Think of it as visitors to your home. You bring them in, entertain them, feed them chips and cookies and soda, and then they leave and you’re really glad to be rid of them. The problem is, they’ve left their stuff all over the place. There’s empty Doritos® bags all over the couch, an empty bottle of soda in the recliner, and the Playstation® controllers are strewn all over the floor. Everything is so disheveled that you don’t even want to go there– and that’s the key to understanding what’s going on with your RAM when you experience performance degradation!
Basically, the programs that you run, if they aren’t engineered perfectly (and even in some cases when they are put together really well) they might cause Memory Leaks (soda bottle leaks?), or leave behind traces of their visit so much so that other software programs won’t go there until you clean up after them.
Well, not exactly, but it’s the basic idea: your other programs have no RAM available to run as fast as you’d like– just like there’s no where left to sit in your living room. No one wants to sit on top of empty potato chip bags and other peoples’ crumbs, and neither will your software be able to use the RAM that’s been muddied up by the “recent visitors”– the previous programs which haven’t cleaned up after themselves.
Fortunately, FreeRAM XP Pro will do all of the cleaning for you– it’s just like your own personal house-keeper. Best of all, FreeRAM XP Pro is 100% FREE of charge to download and use forever, so you’ll always have a clean house. Configure it to clean automatically, or manually wipe the system free of the messy RAM situation.
