Are you one of the many users who are currently trying the latest release from the longest line of groundbreaking web browser releases in history, Netscape Navigator v.9?
Do you enjoy the Paste and Go feature of Opera?
In case you haven’t found it yet, I want to tell you about how you can meld the functionality of Opera’s Paste and Go into Navigator with the Netscape Navigator friendly (supported add-on .xpi extension) with the cute name: Click-n-Go. Okay– I embellished upon the title– it’s actually just ‘clickngo’, according to the AMO repository, but I like my title better– wrong or not!
(hint, hint :: nudge, nudge!)
How to make Navigator 9 «Paste and Go»
It’s quite easy to incorporate a paste n go functionality into the new Netscape Navigator 9.
- Go to the AMO (thats addons -dot mozilla -dot org for the nevergeeks out there!), and download / install the clickngo extension
- Once you are prompted that the extension has successfully installed, close (use File ⇒ Exit to ensure the application has exited)
- Lauch Navigator. The clickngo extension should now be integrated into the browser, able to be used
- Highlight some text which represents a web URL– perhaps the current URL in the browser location bar, or the URL of another tab. Select copy (or cut) to ensure the text is copied to the system clipboard
- Open a new tab or new Navigator window. Click the middle-mouse button (often a scroll button), in the same manner as you would typically left-click to place the cursor in a text-field, for example.
- At once, upon the middle-click, your browser location will point to the text previously copied to the clipboard.
It’s very simple, and quite snappy once you get used to the middle-click. Unlike “Paste and Go” with clickngo, there is no need to first pull up a context menu, then make a selection from that context menu– instead, it happens in one middle-click. Enjoy!
